Albuquerque is a “top 10 affordable travel destination” in the U.S., according to SmartAsset.com.
The financial ranked Albuquerque No. 5 behind Orlando, Fla., Las Vegas, Nev., Fort Lauderdale, Fla. and Reno, Nev. and just ahead of Phoenix, Ariz. and San Antonio, Texas. The site ranked 48 cities across the country.
Affordable lodging and food, in particular, boosted Albuquerque’s standing. According to the site, the average price of a hotel room was $95 per night and a meal at an average mid-tier restaurant costs $18.
The city ranked in the middle of the pack for average round-trip airfare ($349) and car rental ($59).
